Jennifer Ahern-Dodson, Faculty Write ProgramJennifer Ahern-Dodson founded the Faculty Write Program in 2011. She joined a multi-disciplinary writing group a few years earlier, and discovered that her scholarship and writing were transformed by it. As she worked with faculty across disciplines in her writing pedagogy workshops, she realized that they also wanted and needed support as writers, not just as teachers of writers.

Faculty Write, an initiative of the Thompson Writing Program, has grown to offer an annual week-long summer retreat, academic year retreats, and workshops. It also offers consultations with faculty on a one-on-one basis, and it facilitates a robust writing group program. Since its inception, the program has fostered interdisciplinary collaborations across faculty, programs, and colleges at Duke, and between many institutions.

Dr. Ahern-Dodson’s work has been sponsored by the Trent Foundation and the Duke Office for Faculty Advancement, among others. Currently she is an Assistant Professor of the Practice in Writing Studies and Director of Outreach for the Thompson Writing Program. She was selected as a North Carolina Campus Compact Engaged Scholar in 2018-19.
